4 Wildwood Ct, Longview TX

I grew up in a large family, & in a large family home in Greenville Texas....it was a large 2-story home on the edge of the historic district, still a beautiful area in Greenville.  My good friend's house across the street was another stately 2-story, where his mother taught me, as well as many other kids, art lessons throughout my school years.  Around the corner on Park St, many other friends lived in 2-story homes, and such good times were spent in all of these houses!  Although the homes were all unique in style (ours was stucco), they all had some basics in common:  all the living areas were downstairs, and the bedrooms were upstairs.  Newer homes today commonly have at least one bedroom downstairs....but I've had so many parents comment that they'd rather be upstairs closer to the kids.

When I first saw 4 Wildwood Ct, I was instantly reminded of the stately 2-bedroom homes that were a backdrop for my youth!  I was first impressed by the front exterior - here, take a look:

This photo was taken during the off-season, but the espliered vines on the left side are gorgeous when everything is green!

LIVING

I was lucky enough to see this beautiful home when the couple who built it were still living there: yes, it's a ONE-OWNER custom home!  They had it beautifully decorated, with some rooms having been redone by an interior designer not long ago.  I love the main living room with windows overlooking the manicured lawn, anchored by the masonry fireplace...

And how much fun is this 2nd living area?!  With a built-in area complete with bar sink, this room is perfect for a pool table, gameroom, hobby room or whatever a busy family needs!

The Powder Bath is conveniently placed downstairs for guests & hosts alike...

KITCHEN

The large kitchen served this family well for many years, and has just been updated with granite countertops and a subway tile backsplash.

Just look at all the storage in this kitchen!  What would you fill it with?

What you cannot see are all the closets:  there is more than one pantry, and closets are plentiful all over the house as well.  The large laundry also includes a utility sink and tons of storage.  Located just off the kitchen and next to the garage door, the laundry is perfect as a mud room as well.  And...who doesn't need extra storage?

DINING/STUDY

Rounding out the downstairs rooms, there is a walnut-paneled study, which served as the owner's home office for all those years....he splurged on the walnut paneling, but the extra ambience from that special wood was worth it..and still is!

There is also a separate formal dining room.....perfect for large family gatherings & holidays!  Now...if you don't actually want 2 dining areas, this room is in such a place that it could easily be a 2nd office, hobby room or "her" TV area!  Personally, I love the idea of 'his & hers offices' - and this house has room for that!

Entry

Beautiful herringbone wood plank in the entry says "WELCOME"!

Upstairs you'll find 4 generous bedrooms and 2 baths:  the master bath  features a separate tub and shower, his and hers closets & vanities, and again...a wall of built in cabinets for linens, folded clothes, toiletries etc. - this house was designed with SO MUCH STORAGE!

OUTDOOR LIVING

This home has a gorgeous, well-cared-for lawn, a back border of solid azaleas, and manicured landscaping all over; the neighbors on this cul-de-sac all knew each other and preferred no fencing, so the beautiful lawns run into each other...making visiting easy!  A fence could be added if the new owner prefers...
